Writers Theatre is committed to making our theatrical experiences accessible to all audiences and to assisting our patrons who are deaf or have hearing loss who would like to read a script of our plays prior to seeing our production. We are also committed to nurturing our artists, including playwrights whose livelihood is in large part based on royalties from sales of their published works. To accommodate both of these commitments, we have established the following policy regarding distribution of scripts:
For a new work that is not available publicly: Writers Theatre will inquire as to whether the author is amenable to sharing a copy of their work. If they are, the Theatre will make both electronic and hard copies available upon request.
For a work that is published and available to the public: Writers Theatre's Box Office will loan a published script that has been purchased by Writers Theatre to the patron. Script requests should be made at least two weeks before the patron’s scheduled performance. The Box Office is also happy to provide a list of places where the script can be purchased as well as a list of local libraries that have the script in their collection.
To request a script, contact access@writerstheatre.org at least two weeks before your scheduled performance.
Subscribers who request a script will be automatically opted in to our advanced script program and will receive scripts for the remainder of the productions in the season. Non-subscribers should plan to request a script for each performance for which they purchase tickets.
Join over 14,000 people who receive behind-the-scenes articles, videos, and photos, information on upcoming productions, ticket deals & more via our email lists.
