Rosario Vargas 

At Writers Theatre: A Streetcar Named Desire

Born in Cartagena, Colombia, Vargas is the founder and co-artistic director of Aguilon Theater Company. She completed her theatrical studies at the National School for Dramatic Art in Bogota, Colombia and has a BA in Architecture from the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University. Her vast professional experience includes many productions as an actress, director and producer, both in Chicago and abroad. Directing credits for Aquijon Theatre Company include: ‘Til Mortgage Do Us Apart, Ceviche in Pittsburgh, The Empty Chalices, Genesis was Tomorrow and An Admiral for the Sea. Acting credits include: The House of Bernarda Alba, Blood Wedding, Orchids in the Moonlight, A Streetcar Named Desire, Johnny Tenorio and The Strip. In 2003 the National Museum of Mexican Art awarded Vargas efforts in the artistic community by naming her that year’s Sor Juana Ines Honoree. She has been active in Chicago’s theatre scene for over 25 years.
