In addition to housing sophisticated, high-quality theatrical productions, the Theatre Center is an elegant space for all types of events to serve the Chicagoland area. Located along Chicago’s North Shore, Writers Theatre is situated in downtown Glencoe, Illinois, steps from local shops, restaurants, galleries and public transportation.

Please request space at least six weeks in advance. Please note: Writers Theatre is experiencing a high-volume of rental inquiries. Please be patient with our rental staff. Rentals are booked on a first-come, first-serve basis. Inquiries submitted far in advance will receive priority.

Stephanie & Bill Sick Rooftop Terrace (85 capacity)

Connected to the luminous outdoor Grand Gallery Walk and the upper level of the Litowitz Atrium, the Stephanie & Bill Sick Rooftop Terrace provides a beautiful view overlooking Tudor Court and Downtown Glencoe.

Stephanie & Bill Sick Patron Lounge (85 capacity)

The Stephanie & Bill Sick Patron Lounge is located on the second floor of the Theatre Center; perfect for intimate celebrations and receptions, with access to the Stephanie & Bill Sick Rooftop Terrace. 

Green Family Rehearsal Room (115 capacity)
The Green Family Rehearsal Room is the perfect, flexible space for receptions, presentations, and large meetings. The Rehearsal Room has large windows on the west side of the room, overlooking Glencoe Park District’s Friends Park Playground.

The Gillian Theatre (99 to 200 capacity, depending on layout)

The Gillian Theatre is one of two performance venues located in Writers Theatre’s Theatre Center. The traditional black box space is the most flexible location available for rent. The Gillian Theatre is fully equipped with theatrical amenities, including a lighting grid and state-of-the art sound system.

Alexandra C. and John D. Nichols Theatre (255 capacity)

The Alexandra C. and John D. Nichols Theatre is a three-quarter thrust stage with fixed seating for 255 people. Entrances to the space are located on the first and second floors of the Theatre Center. The Nichols Theatre is fully equipped with catwalks for lighting, a state-of-the art sound system and a counterweight rigging system.

Litowitz Atrium (350 capacity)

The iconic marker of Writers Theatre, the Litowitz Atrium is a two-story space with seating tribunes that functions as a gathering, performance or presentational area. Surrounding the space is the luminous outdoor Grand Gallery Walk, suspended around the Atrium.
