Gilles Ségal

Gilles Ségal was born in Romania and immigrated to Paris, France, with his parents when he was a child. After World War II, he earned a degree in philosophy and a teaching certificate at the University of Paris. He then became a mime and worked with Marcel Marceau and Jean-Louis Barrault, for whom he acted, wrote and directed many pan- tomimes. As an actor and director he participated in such prestigious plays as Marat-Sade. He has also performed on stage, television and in the movies. In 1995, he was awarded the Societe des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques Prize. In 1996, he received two Moliere Prizes for Monsieur Schpill Et Monsieur Tippeton performed at Comedie FranQaise for Best Author and for Best Subsidized Play of the Season.
