Lee is represented on Broadway by the musical Wicked. Other New York work includes A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Dalacorte Theater in Central Park, NY, 2007), The Hairy Ape (Irish Repertory Theatre, 2006), A Number (New York Theatre Workshop, 2004), The Designated Mourner (South William Street, 2000), Ragtime (Ford Center for the Performing Arts, 1998), Showboat (Gershwin Theatre, 1982) and Agnes of God (Music Box Theatre, 1982) Lee has also designed with The Public Theatre, a few standout credits include Ruby Sunrise (2005) and The Normal Heart (1985 and 2004).
Film credits include Francis Ford Coppola’s “Hammett”, John Huston’s “Mr. North” and Louis Malle’s “Vanya on 42nd Street”. Lee has been a resident designer at Trinity Repertory since 1967, He holds BFA degrees from the Art Institute of Chicago and Carnegie Mellon, a MFA from Yale School of Drama and three honorary doctorates. He has been the production designer at “Saturday Night Live” since 1974. Ha has received the Tony Award, American Theatre Wing’s Design Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, Drama Desk Award, Lucille Lortel Award, Elliot Norton Award and Pell Award. He was recently inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame. He is an adjunct professor at Brown University and lives with his wife Brooke in Providence, where they raised their two sons.
