Janecek completed his bachelor's degree from Northwestern University. Before attending Northwestern, he studied political theory at the University of Notre Dame. Although theatre research has absorbed much of Janecek's time, this is his first official role as a production dramaturg. Janecek's other notable work includes many adaptations of poetry and short stories for performance at Northwestern. Directing credits include Lobster Alice, The Maids, Philip Glass Buys A Loaf Of Bread and Salome at Notre Dame. He has received several research grants and invitations to conferences for his research in theatre and people with disabilities.
