Work on our new home commences!
Recently our general contractor, W.E. O’Neil, started their preparations at 325 Tudor Court. The site fence is up and barriers have been used to create a truck drop off lane inside the construction zone.
In addition to the site preparation, several other aspects of the project have begun:
- Reclamation of the brick from the Woman’s Library Club (which will be cleaned and re-used inside the 250-seat theatre in the new building). This work will take two to three weeks to complete.
- The trees on-site that will be inside the footprint of the new building were removed last week. We worked with both the Village and the Park District to identify those trees and are working to keep the remaining trees protected during the project. A number of the mature trees onsite will be re-used on aspects of the new building, and will be supplemented with 18 new birch trees and 62 arbor vitae on the property, along with ivy and green roofs, once the project is complete. In the end, we will have planted more trees than we have removed.
- Once the brick is removed and the site is prepared, the existing Club will be demolished later this month.
